My way to a college lecture was of course totally unexpected. I hadn’t even imagined about a teaching career until my last semester in M.com. But after I qualified UGC NET exam, the door of fortune opened up for me in the form of college lecturer. Now having completed a victorious year of teaching, I feel enthusiastic to bet on lecturing career.
I got plenty of opportunities during my maiden year to fly high in my career and I believe I have fully capitalized these moments. To a great extent I was able to stand out as a resourceful lecture before my audience. Still a lot of improvement in the method of teaching need to be incorporated for ensuring a win win situation.
My great learning recently was the realization of the importance of teaching and the sacred role of a lecturer. I am sure students are expecting much higher form their teachers. And a teacher of course should be able to meet their requirements. But the value of education is falling drastically as colleges lack serious learners. The mindset of the learners should be re-mapped to the in-depth studying just for the sake of knowledge and not for any material benefit. As we are developing a culture of application oriented learnining the true spirit of knowledge hunting is missing for this new generation.
On this occasion of teacher’s day I respectfully remember my wonderful teachers who have moulded and guided me towards this success. When I was young and a student I didn’t pay much attention to their words but now I realize their restless effort to make us a valuable citizen. Tribute to all my great teachers.
