RC in Disaster Management at Kumaun University, Nainital

I did my orientation in Feb-Mar 2013 at Himachal Predesh University, Shimla. My OP friends wanted me to do refresher in either in NEHU, Shillong or University of Kashmir, or Kumaun University, Nainital. I used to search Nehu website frequently for commerce refresher updates but i could'nt found such an announcements from them. So I started following Kashmir university. I had applied there for a refresher in commerce in Jan 2015 but they used to postpone the programme every time for two years. So i moved to my third choice ie. Nanital. I applied for commerce refresher in early 2016 but they too postponed it and finally cancelled. later I tried to attend their Inter Desciplinary course in environment studies in Nov 2016 but i was not included in the selection list. Finally they agreed to include me and my friend Mhd. Nisar TV from EMEA College Kondotty in their Refresher Course in Disaster Management Dec 2 -23, 2016 list. My refresher course was already over due by 6th Oct 2016 as i had completed six years of service by then along with few others in my college. Out of them Mr Muneer OK & Anujith S were desperately looking for a RC somewhere. After our selection, when I surfed Kumaun university website i found the status 'registration open' against the said RC course in Disaster Management. I asked Muneer and Anujith to make a trail. they called HRDC and got confirmed their selection. Me, Nisar & Muneer started in Mangala Lakshwadeep express from Calicut on 29th Nov at 5.15 pm and reached Delhi on 1st Dec at 7 pm. the train was 6 hours late due to smog in Delhi. We moved to old Delhi to catch our Ranikhet express to Kathkodam at 10 pm from DLI. Though train departed one hour late at 11 pm, it reached destination on time at 5 am. Mr. Anujith also joined us from Delhi in this train. We four hired a taxi to HRDC Kumaun University, The Hermitage, Nainital for Rs 500. The 30 KM journey took around one and half hours due narrow curvy roads. the driver stopped near Naini lake to have a morinig tea and continued to HRDC after showing a lake view from the top. We entered the beautiful 'hermitage' campus with chilling climate at less than 10 celciouss. we got two bed sharing rooms No 7 and 8 at HRDC hostel. The room was neat and clean with rajahi (our kosadi) for preventing the cool climate. On the first day we had formal inauguration and orientation to the HRDC by Joint Director Mrs Divya madam.. We used to have training classes upto noon by resource person and micro teachings and project presentations in the afternoon. At the evening we used to explore places near HRDC in our evening walk. The eco caves, Kumaun university Gadwal Campus, Nainital city, Naini lake, Nainital zoo etc are few among them. On first Sunday with 14 fellow participants, we went for an outing through Sathal, Bhimthal, China peak, Naini falls and so on. In the second week Sunday together with Milad day we went to Kausani, Ranikeht and Jim corbet national park with over night stay in Kosani. Last Sunday we did boating in Naini lake and returned to hostel for short aften noon sleep. On the valedictory day (23rd Dec) by 1 pm we started to Kathgodam railways station to catch train to Haridwar. We spent the few hours in Gola river near Haldwani for time pass. After taking a grand dinner but cheap near railway station, we departed to Haridwar in Dehradun express at 7.30 pm. We reached Haridhwar by 3 am and took dormitory for a shot sleep at railway station itself. Anujith sir were already left directly from nainital to home through Chandigrah by flight to Banglore. We three keralaites and two Maharashra walas Nagre and rajesh sir took a tavera to Masoori through Rishkesh and Dehradun. On the way, we had site seeing at Ganga river, then at Rishikesh. we had the popular lunch from Rishikesh and moved to Masoori, the queen of hills and then returned to Dehradun by7 pm. After the dinner we started to Delhi in volvo bus. We reached Delhi in the early morning. By this time Nisar had reached  Chandigrah from Dehradun to catch his flight to Banglre. After saying good bye to our best Maharashtra friends, me and Muneer sir went for a shopping at Sunday market near Chandini Chowk by metro. By noon we took metro to Delhi international air port to catch our flight to Calicut at 5 pm. the flight took off at right time and landed at Mumbai for a halt. we landed Calicut by 11 pm on 25th Dec and got our luggage by 11.30 pm. then we two returned home by KSRTC buses from Calicut airport stop. Me reached home by 1 pm in the mid night. There were only we four Malayalees for RC. We improved our Hindi language too much in this trip. the practical sessions on Disaster Managament were so good along with nice participants from almost all parts of India. total 39 teachers from 12 states participated in the course representing various discipline.
